I had an accent problem, when I joined this club. People didnt quite understand what I was speaking, because of pronunciations. This problem of communication was reducing my confidence of speaking before group. My brother had told me long back to join Toastmasters to improve my communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, but here in Lake Charles I got a chance to join the club. I am happy to be a part of this club, this is fostering confidence and a state of accomplishment within me. THANKS TOASTMASTERS !!

Career Builder! I wish I had know about Toastmasters thirty-five years ago when I began my career - it would have been a game changer. Speaking proficiently would have opened more doors and would have increased my opportunities for success. Even now, I have learned important life skills that I use in my professional and personal relationships. Toastmasters has taught me to be a better communicator and leader. In August of 2006, Mrs.Lollion Elmer took me to Toastmasters, just after I was elected President of the Lake League of Women Voters. I was so afraid of speaking in front of a large group, I could not bring my thoughts into play, my mind would become very confused, and I would stutter and stammer. I was a nervous wreck, but I gained confidence, I am able to organize my thoughts whereas I am less afraid to speak. Toastmasters gave me the skills to become a more competent speaker.
Good Gets Better! I generally considered myself to be a good speaker, and didn't think that Toastmasters could benefit me at all. After all... it was for... "those others" who needed help with their speaking. How wrong I was! Just like taking a "pretty sharp" knife and honing it to be even sharper, I have increased my abilities many fold. In addition, being President of Club 1225, has enhanced my leadership skills, and given me the opportunity to increase my people-managing skills. Whether you are scared of speaking... or very comfortable with getting up in front of people, I can promise you that Toastmasters will give you the opportunity to be even better.
