Garbage!! That's where they throw everything you donate to them other than cash or gift cards. Lucky for us, they just flat out refused us to give diapers and baby formula, amongst a huge variety of things loaded down in a trailer. If they would have took it they would have trashed it and these people wouldn't have got it anyway. This shelter in lake Charles was full of people being bussed in with nothing and we could not leave them anything. We asked the guy if we could just hand out some stuff to some people. Like this lady with a baby, I'm sure a fresh diaper would have been appreciated. The Red Cross refused us do anything. It was told to us by people there that last night someone donated 200 pizzas to this shelter and they all went in the dumpster. Because they didn't have time to "inspect" them. Same as the items we were bringing them. They didn't have time to "inspect" the stuff. The brand new stuff fresh in packages... all $3500 of it.
Thank god for the United Way. They welcomed us with open arms and will distribute the goods.
