I Love Lake Charles Charter Academy! The entire school staff/teachers are always very helpful and understanding, which my children's previous school (Prien Lake Elementary) had horrible communication skills! The curriculum is challenging yet taught carefully to each student. I would recommend this school to family and friends! Lake Charles Charter Academy is the best!

My daughter was going to this school for first grade. We moved from out of state where she started at an amazing charter school. So when we moved here I wanted her to continue at a charter school. I was not impressed by this school at all. First I repeatedly asked about her being in the reading program upon registration and on my tour and I was assured that wouldn't be a problem. But after she started I was informed tthe group was full. They never stated that before. Everytime I went inside the school the staff in the office was not very warm. No smiling, or a hi how are you. A boy pushed my daughter and knocked out her front tooth. She was not sent to the nurse, they didn't call me, or even send a note home. I've also never seen so much theft in a school before either. My daughter had her snack stolen from her backpack from the older kids at least twice. The teachers I interacted with seemed nice and like they cared. But overall we were not happy with the school. I also didn't like how they hardly ever had recess (it's up to the teachers if they go). Now while I agree with taking away recess as a punishment from the class if they are acting up, I don't agree with how little they went to recess. Especially for the younger kids. 1st graders need time to blow off steam, to get their energy out. I was never send home a report on how her testing went either. The testing they do during the year for the whole school, never saw a report. I even asked about it, still never a report.
It's been a pleasure for my son to attend a new school this year. The reason for selecting Lake Charles Charter Academy for its strong morals and leadership. As an educator, I love the various ways for instruction and cultural engagement displayed at the school. My son is in 8th grade, and this is his first year in attendance. He excitedly joined the football and basketball team and have met many new friends.
